Welcome to the official web site of
Thomas St. Onge Vietnam Veterans Museum in Hermansville, MI

The Vietnam Veterans Museum and Park is located in Hermansville, in Michigan's upper peninsula, about 200 miles northwest of the mighty Mackinac Bridge.

It is open Memorial Day thru Veteran's Day, Saturday and Sunday from 1 o'clock to 4 o'clock and at any other time, by appointment. Contact us through our web site, and we will be happy to take you on a tour.

Our mission is to provide a place of rest and healing for those who fought in Vietnam; a place of remembrance for those who died there; and a place of learning for those who feel the time has come to accomplish that. We honor all men and women who have served so well and so unselfishly whenever their country has called. We will not forget.

Amanda

Amanda Whitens daughter of Alan and Nancy Whitens of Hermansville, has recently completed painting a mural for the Vietnam Veterans in their museum. She is currently pursuing a career in the Arts field. She is a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree and is in the process of acquiring a K-12 teaching certification. She is currently substitute teaching at North Central schools while continuing her education. When asked by the Vietnam veterans to paint a room mural, she said she would be honored. She gave it 100% and 120 hours on the project. While being accustomed to painting wildlife and outdoor scenes, this put a new perspective on her career, and she enjoys the excitement of her creations. When asked how she decided what to paint she replied, a scene that would give the people the feeling they were there in the midst of the war. It is a fitting tribute to the Vietnam veterans and we thank Amanda for the gift. The public is invited to view it beginning memorial day weekend from 12-4 p.m. at the museum.
